WILKES-BARRE -- For the past month, the King's College women's
basketball team has struggled mightily with a team hit hard by injuries.
With three key inside player missing a combined 15 games and limiting
the Lady Monarchs to just one healthy post player, the team struggled to
a 5-6 record, including four straight losses to close out the first
semester.
When King's hosts the annual Lady Monarch Classic beginning Friday at
6:00 p.m., coach Brian Donoghue could very well have senior pre-season
all-American 6-0 center Andrea Hochstuhl, 5-10 sophomore power forward
Krystina Durako, and 6-0 freshman center-forward Sarah O'Doherty back,
if for only limited minutes of action. The trio of post players, who
were cleared to begin practicing on Tuesday, may only see limited time
at the tournament, but with the Freedom Conference schedule set to begin
Tuesday, their return could not come at a better time.
The event will tip off Friday at 6:00 p.m. when Salisbury University of
Maryland faces Norwich University from Vermont in the opening contest.
King's will face Neumann College in the 8:00 p.m. nightcap. The
consolation game is set for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with the title game
slated for 3:00 p.m.
King's last competed December 20-21 when the lady

from knee and hand injuries that limited her effectiveness during the
first four games, averaged 8.8 points with 7.8 boards before undergoing
surgery to fix her broken left hand. Sophomore guard-forward Jessica
Paettie adds 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 19 three-pointers.
