KING'S WYCHOCK, CLERICI, NAMED MAC FREEDOM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 

ANNVILLE -- A pair of King's College student-athletes were honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference as Debbie Wychock and Kat Clerici were each named the named Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" in field hockey and volleyball respectively.

 

Wychock powered King’s field hockey to a 3-0 week, including the team championship of the Betty Richey Invitational at Vassar College. Wychock opened the week with the lone goal of the game as King’s defeated host Misericordia 1-0. In a 5-1 victory over Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she scored two goals, including what proved to be the game-winner in the first half. 

In the championship game 5-3 win over host Vassar, King’s held a slim 3-2 lead until Wychock delivered an assist on King’s fourth and deciding goal of the game. In the process, she helped King's improve to 5-0 on the year.

 
Clerici was selected as the conference's top player for the second straight week after leading King’s volleyball to a 3-2 week and broke a major school-record in the process.  For the week, Clerici registered 69 kills in 16 games, averaging 4.3 kills per-game while posting a solid .368 hitting percentage.  In a 3-0 win over Albright, she totaled a school-record 21 kills in the three-game match, hitting a stellar .576 in the process with six total blocks. 

During the week, she also contributed with 14 total blocks, 12 digs, six assists, and five service aces.  She was also named to the all-tournament team at the Muhlenberg College Buttermaker Invitational Tournament. Clerici's efforts helped King's improve to 7-2 on the year.
