60 KING'S STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO MAC FALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

WILKES-BARRE -- A total of 60 King's College fall sports student-athletes have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team.

To be nominated for selection, students must be at least a sophomore in class standing and maintain a minimum 3.20 grade-point average.

King's led the way in the MAC with 60 selections, while Elizabethtown College and Susquehanna had 58 each, followed by Messiah (56).  Scranton was fifth with 53, Moravian was sixth with 52 and Juniata was seventh with 51, followed by FDU-Florham (46), Albright (44), Wilkes (41), Widener (40), Lebanon Valley ( 29), Lycoming (27), Drew (26), Delaware Valley (19) and DeSales (18).

The King's football team had 13 players selected, including Ryan Arcangeli, Gary Bailey, Josh Conklin, Craig Haywood, Tim Lust, Matt McGovern, Andrew Michalik, George Montras, Bernie Mullen, Dan OšRourke, Jeff Searfass, Joe Tassoni, and Mike Verbitski

Eleven players from the Lady Monarch soccer squad were chosen, including Kate Bossert, Annie Drimones, Liz Martin, Lisa McMillan, Catherine Scerra, Cindy Smallwood, Blake Stock, Lori Stuart, Christine Uhl, Kaitlin Wilcox, and Mary Malloy.

The field hockey team had 10 players represented, including Alicia Barrios, Melissa Gates, Grace King, Kari Leach, Katie McCormick, Sarah McGrady, Sarah Rizzo, Lindsay Sabo, Rianda Steck, and Debbie Wychock.

Nine cross country runners were named, including Derek Call, Maria DeMuro, Julie Dural, Ed Kopec, David Krupski, Kate Musto, Justin Winters, Alison Taroli, and Kelley Weidwald.

The Monarch soccer team had nine players selected, including Nate Buckwalter, Mike Buckwash, Brandon Heller, John McNichol, Jordan Miller, Jim McMichael, Mark Nessle, Eric Schmeider, and Brandon Stanchock.

Six King's women's tennis players made the squad, including Sarah Guza, Kristen Hunter, Brittany Kujat, Amanda Marchica, Brittany Turnbaugh, and Elizabeth Walpole.

Nadya Alboschy and Erin Dugan were also selected from the women's volleyball team.

A year ago, 114 King's student-athletes were named to the MAC Fall, Winter, and Spring all-Academic teams with a record 65 coming during the 2005 Fall Sports campaign.
