KING'S PLACES 31 ON MAC SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
WILKES-BARRE -- A total of 31 College
student-athletes were named to the Middle Atlantic Conferences Spring
Sports All-Academic teams, the MAC Office announced Monday. In order to
be nominated for selection, student-athletes must maintain a minimum
3.20 overall grade-point average and be at least a sophomore.
Highlighting the selections were eight members of King's Freedom
Conference champion softball team. Representing the Lady Monarchs were
junior senior Mari Valonis (Throop/Mid Valley), junior Annie Drimones
(Englewood Cliffs, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels), and sophomores Kaitlin
Liszewski (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata), Becky Loring
(Honesdale/Honesdale), Courtney McAndrew (Clarks Summit/Abington
Heights), Amanda Rizner (Browndale/Forest City), Kelsey Shreaves (Absecom,
NJ/Holy Spirit), and Alyssa Wagner (Kings Point, NY/Kings Point).
The Monarch baseball team also had eight players
chosen, including senior Caleb Calarco (New Ringgold/Tamaqua), juniors
Matt Colgan (Carbondale/Carbondale), Matt Livoy (Drexel Hill/Upper
Darby), John McNichol (West
Chester/Devon Prep), and Pat McGlynn
(Plains/Bishop Hoban); and sophomores Phil Moskowitz (Roxbury,
NJ/Roxbury), Matt Van Stone (Waterbury,
CT/Sacred Heart), and Jon Venarchick
(Lehighton/Lehighton).
Seven Lady Monarch lacrosse players were named, including seniors Sara
Alesso (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross), Kelly Ilardi (West
Hempstead, NY/Frank Carey), Lindsay Sabo
(Milford/Delaware Valley), and Eric Kovats
(Mahopac, NYMahopac), along with juniors Melissa Gates (Jenkintown),
Keri Niedt (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern
Burlington), and Michelle O'Brien (Bridgewater,
NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).
Four members of the Freedom Conference runner-up
men's tennis team were selected, including juniors Adam Pascoe
Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) and Nick Hojsack (Kingston/Wyoming Valley
West), along with sophomores Blake Bonser (Tannersville,
PA/Pocono Mt. East) and David Kaluzavich
(Pittston/Seton Catholic)
A pair of Monarch golfers were chosen, including Sean Apanovich (Plains/Coughlin)and
Michael Kane (Forty Fort/Wyoming Valley West).
Two men's lacrosse
players were named, including Chad Flexon (Sewell,
NJ/St. Augustine Prep) and David Scott (Unionville,
VA/Culpeper).
Combined with fall and winter sports, a total of 106 King's
student-athletes were selected to the various MAC All-Academic teams.
