KING'S PLACES 15 ON MAC WINTER SPORTS ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
WILKES-BARRE -- A total of 15 student-athletes from King's three
Middle Atlantic Conference sponsored sports have been named to the MAC
Winter All-Academic Team.
In order to be nominated for selection, student-athletes must maintain
an overall minimum 3.20 grade-point average and be at least a sophomore
in class standing. Freshmen are not eligible for selection.
The women's basketball team was represented by seven players, including
sophomore guard Andrea Carroll, sophomore small forward Kaitlyn Fiorino,
senior forward Casey Heitman, junior center Andrea Hochstuhl, sophomore
guard Anne Kaluzavich, junior guard Lauren Kendra, and junior guard
Johnna Strenchock.
The men's basketball squad also had seven players selected, including
junior guard Jared Black, junior guard Jamie Cousart, junior guard Kofi
Dwebeng, sophomore forward Ian Gilmartin, junior forward Vince Scalzo,
senior small forward Vince Sobocinski, and sophomore guard Shawn Swim.
With only one non-freshmen on the swimming team roster, sophomore Susan
Prentice was the team's lone representative, rounding out the winter
selections at 15. With the King's wrestling team now competing in the
Metropolitan Wrestling Conference, Monarch grapplers were not eligible
for selection to the MAC Winter Sports Team.
Combined with 60 student-athletes named to the MAC Fall Sports
All-Academic team, King's has had 75 selections to the conference
all-academic teams thus far this year.
