(Men Can Clinch Home Playoff Game with win, Lady
Monarchs locked in 2nd Place Tie with DeSales)
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's and
women's basketball teams will resume their quest for Freedom Conference
Tournament high seeds when both squads travel cross-town to face rival
Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference doubleheader Tuesday in the
Marts Center.

contest is slated for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off. The games will

King’s women, which notched a 61-39 win over the Lady Colonels in their
first meeting this season on January 10, are 16-7 overall and 8-4 in the
conference after a 67-49 upset loss at Drew University on Saturday . The
Wilkes women enter the game with an overall record of 6-17 and a
conference mark of 2-10 following a 79-66 loss at FDU-Florham on
Saturday.
King's is deadlocked with DeSales for second-place
in the Freedom Conference standings and needs a win over Wilkes to
maintain at least a share of second place. If both King's and DeSales
are victorious on Tuesday, second-place could be decided during
Saturday's season finales when the Lady Monarchs host sixth-place
FDU-Florham, while DeSales entertains first-place Scranton.
The Lady Monarchs are led by junior guard Jenna Palumbo who tops the
squad with 15.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per-game while cashing in on a
school-record 85 three-pointers. Junior forward Andrea Hochstuhl is adds
14.2 points, a conference-leading 10.2 rebounds, and 46 blocked shots.
Sophomore guard Kaitlyn Fiorino is chipping in 13.6 points and has hit
47 three-pointers. Junior guard Lauren Kendra has tallied 5.6 points,
7.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 3.0 steals per-game while senior forward
Casey Heitman chips in with 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds with 20 treys.

6.8 points and six rebounds per game from junior center Karyn Perestam,
and 4.9 points and 6.8 boards per contest from sophomore center Kelly
Patchell.
In the nightcap, King's men will look to sweep the season series over
Wilkes while clinching at least a first-round home Freedom Conference
playoff game with just two regular-season games left. The Monarchs
posted a 76-55 home victory in the first meeting between the teams on
January 10. The Monarchs sit atop the Freedom Conference standings with
a 10-2 record, and are 16-7 overall after an 80-40 win at Drew
University on Saturday. The Colonels are 10-11 overall and 2-10 in the
conference following an 89-78 loss at FDU-Florham on Saturday.
King's is a game ahead of Scranton (9-3) and two ahead of third-place
FDU-Florham (8-4). A King's victory over Wilkes would give the Monarchs
at least a second-place finish in the Freedom Conference with just a
Saturday home game with FDU left on the schedule.
Junior guard Jamie Cousart is the catalyst for a
King’s team that has won 10 of their last 11 games. Cousart is averaging
13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Junior forward Vince

Kresge leads the unit in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14 points and
6.7 caroms. Sophomore forward Steve Kline, who had a career-high 24
points in Saturday’s loss at FDU-Florham, averages 11 points and 6.5
rebounds. Junior guard Jeremy Kable is knocking down 10.6 counters per
game and has a team-leading 58 three-pointers to his credit.
Both King's teams will conclude regular-season play Saturday with a home
Freedom Conference doubleheader with FDU-Florham, beginning with the
1:00 p.m. women's game and ending with the 3:00 p.m. men's contests. The
game doubleheader will also serve as "Senior Day as King's will honor
their senior players before each respective game.
