KING'S SABO, MATUSIEWICZ NAMED TO MAC LACROSSE TEAMS
WILKES-BARRE -- King's College women's and men's lacrosse standouts
Lindsay Sabo (Milford/Delaware Valley) and Steve Matusiewicz
(Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) have been named to the 2005
Middle Atlantic Conference all-star teams.
Sabo was named to the women's second team after guiding the Lady
Monarchs to a school-record 11-6 mark and the program's first-ever MAC
playoff berth. A sophomore attack, Sabo set two King's single-season
offensive records and tied a third. She set new Lady Monarch records
with 97 total points and 53 assists, while equaling the school mark of
44 goals. Sabo also set two other King's records with 99 ground balls
and 32 caused turnovers.
Matusiewicz, who was also a second-team choice, concludes an outstanding
career at King's as the Monarch goalie where he has twice been named
All-MAC. This season, Matusiewicz has posted an 8.21 goals against
average with 207 saves and stopped 63.7 percent of shots faced to rank
first in the MAC and ninth nationally in Division III.
Over the course of his four-year varsity career, Matusiewicz has made a
school-record 1,160 saves, stopping over 200 shots each of his four
years with the program. He led King's to a 5-10 record, the most wins
King's has produced since the program was started in 1999.
