KING'S WRESTLERS CROWN TWO CHAMPIONS AT MONARCH TOURNAMENT, FINISH FOURTH AS A TEAM

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College wrestling team crowned a pair of individual champions and placed fourth in the team standings during the annual Monarch Invitational Tournament Saturday in Scandlon Gym.

York College won the team championship with 162.0 points, followed by Wilkes (147.5), Oneonta State (125.5), and King's (117.0), to round out the top four in the field of 12 teams.

King's individual winners included senior Jason Reilly at 197 and Zach Wilkinson at 184. Reilly posted a pair of pins before earning a 12-0 decision over Dennis Norton of Oneonta. Wilkinson won by a pin in 3:10, then posted a 5-1 decision to reach the finals. From there he pinned Josh Ballan of Wilkes in 1:40.

King's also had one runner-up as Zach Dietrick was second at 174-pounds. Dietrick won three decisions to advance to the final, where he fell to Josh Wake of Oneonta by a 10-0 margin. The Monarchs also had one additional place-winner as Justin Bender was third at 285. Bender went 3-1 on the day and came back to post a 3-1 decision over Matt Williams of Ursinus in the consolation finals.

The field of teams include Centenary (CC), Elizabethtown (EC), Gettysburg (GC), SUNY-Morrisville (MU) Muhlenberg (MC), SUNY-Oneonta (OU), Scranton (US), Ursinus (UC), West Point (WP), Wilkes (WU), and York (YC).
