MORGAN WINS 133-POUND CLASS AS MONARCHS FINISH FOURTH AT SCRANTON INVITATIONAL

SCRANTON -- Sophomore Dave Morgan won the 133-pouind weight class to lead the King's College wrestling team to a fourth-place finish in the nine-team Scranton Invitational Tournament Sunday at the University of Scranton.

The College of New Jersey won the team title with 168.0, followed by McDaniel (139.0), Stevens Technical Institute of New Jersey (85.0) and King's (69.5). Other teams included Lycoming (56.0), Scranton (53.5), Washington & Lee (44.0), Centenary (35.5), and Elizabethtown (17.0).

Morgan dominated the weight class  with two pins and a major decision to improve to 10-0 on the year.  In the finals, Morgan pinned Mike Jacoutot of the College of New Jersey in 3:38.

Also making the finals and finishing second for King's were Drew Dehaut at 165 and Justin Bender at 285.

Dehaut posted a pair of pins in 2:47 and 2:13 to reach the finals, where he lost to top-seeded Tony Howard of McDaniel by fall in 0:36.

Bender  won a pair of decisions to reach the championship match where he lost via technical fall to top-seeded Keith Bjorhus of College of New Jersey.

Other King's wrestlers competing but did not place included Jeff Mazurek who was 1-2 in the event at 125-pounds.

At 133, junior John Houssock was 2-2 while freshman David Prutzman was 1-2 at 141.  Freshman Ryan Trees went 0-2 at 149 while fellow rookie Bobby Williard was 2-2 at 157.  Freshman Chris Murtha went 1-1 at 165 while freshman Zach Martinez was 1-2 and freshman Mike Mariano finished 0-2 at 174.  At 184, both junior Mike O'Hara and freshman Buck Raymond were 0-2.

King's also wrestled without junior standout Jason Reilly (8-0), the eighth-ranked wrestler in the nation at 197-pounds. Reilly missed the meet with a minor injury and is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday when the Monarchs travel to face cross-town rival Wilkes at 7:00 p.m.
