KING'S WRESTLERS CROWN THREE CHAMPIONS AT SCRANTON INVITATIONAL

(Dehaut, Arnone, Reilly Capture Gold)


Scranton Invitational Tournament Brackets

SCRANTON -- The King's College wrestling team crowned three individual champions while adding one runner-up at the University of Scranton Invitational Tournament Sunday in the John J. Long Center.

Sophomore Drew Dehaut won the first Monarch title at 157 pounds with three wins, including a pair of falls. In the finals, Dehaut pinned Jason Chacone of The College of New Jersey in just 0:55 of the first period to improve to 10-1 on the year.

At 165-pounds, senior all-American Joe Arnone captured gold  with three straight wins. Arnone won by a pin and major decision before earning the title with a hard-fought 1-0 decision over Jeff Harrington of The College of New Jersey in the finals.  Arnone improved to 7-2 on the year and won his 90th career match with his championship victory.

King's final title came at 197-pounds where sophomore Jason Reilly upped his season mark to 11-0.  Reilly went 2-0 on the day, posting a pair of pins. In the finals, Reilly packed Al Fluman of Lycoming in just 1:19 to claim his third tournament title of the year.

Freshman Scott Prutzman reached the finals and placed second at 141-pounds for the Monarchs.  Prutzman won two matches before falling 3-1 in the finals to Mike Detsis of Stevens Tech.

At 285-pounds, sophomore Jim Bishop was third for the Monarchs.  Bishop went 3-1 on the day and posted a 5-4 decision over Keith English of McDaniel College in the consolation finals.

Sophomore Zach Dietrick placed fourth for King's at 174-pounds, going 2-2 on the day. Dietrick dropped a 5-2 decision to Jesup Sataloff of Washington & Lee in the consolation finals.

Team scoring was not kept at the event.

The Monarchs will next host Wilkes University Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
