KING'S ARNONE ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINAL BEFORE FALLING TWICE

NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA -- King's College senior wrestler Joe Arnone advanced through the first two rounds to reach the quarterfinals, but then dropped his next two matches and was eliminated at the 2005 NCAA Division III National Tournament Friday at St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN.

The un-seeded Arnone drew a first-round bye, then posted a 6-4 sudden-victory overtime decision over seventh-seeded Cole Williams of Dubuque (IA) College to move onto the 165-pound quarterfinals. After regulation, the match ended in a 4-4 tie before Arnone (29-5) posted a takedown to advance.

Arnone, who placed fifth to earn all-American honors a year ago, then met second seeded Nick Ammerman of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision to his unbeaten foe.

In his first match in the consolation bracket, Arnone met season nemesis Scott Roesch of Ursinus who eliminated Arnone with a 7-4 decision.  It marked the fourth time this season Roesch won by decision over Arnone.

Arnone, who earned all-American status last year with a fifth-place finish, was unable to achieve the honor in his final season. he concluded the year with a 29-7 mark and a 111-37 record for his career.

Arnone, however, was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Scholar All-American Team for the second straight year.
