MONARCH WRESTLERS SWEEP TRI-MEET

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College wrestling team made its final home appearance a successful one as the Monarchs swept a tri-meet from SUNY-Maritime and New York University.

In its first match, King's defeated SUNY-Maritime 41-9, before besting NYU 31-10. NYU defeated SUNY-Maritime 49-9 in the third match wrestled.

Senior all-American Joe Arnone made his final appearance in Scandlon Gymnasium a memorable one with a 16-0 technical fall and a pin in 1:50 at 165-pounds. Freshman Ryan Richard was outstanding with a pair of pins at 125-pounds while John Houssock posted a pin and decision at 133. Scott Prutzman also picked up a pair of victories at 141.

King's also benefited from the return of a pair of grapplers who had been sidelined with injuries. Sophomore Jason Reilly picked up a 9-0 major decision victory as well as a forfeit at 197-pounds, while fellow sophomore Drew Dehaut posted a dynamic pin in just 0:32 against NYU.

Other King's winners to post victories included Adam Penberthy (149), Zach Deitrick (174), Joe Peteroy, and Jim Bishop at 285.

The Monarchs will wrap up the dual meet season on Saturday when King's travels to Messiah College for a tri-meet with McDaniel College. King's will then compete in the MAC Championships February 19 at Wilkes University.
