KING'S WRESTLERS SET SCHOOL WIN RECORD, SCHLINGMAN EARNS 100TH VICTORY

NEW YORK, NY --  The King's College wrestling team and senior all-American Jason Schlingman both reached milestones Saturday as the Monarchs earned a quadrangular meet victory at New York University.

Entering the evening, King's stood at 18-2 and needed two wins to break the school-record of 19 wins set in 1997 and equaled last season. In their opener, the Monarchs, ranked fourth nationally in Division III, defeated NYU 35-11 to tie the mark. King's then bested Elizabethtown 52-3 to set the record. The Monarchs ended the day with a 54-6 route of New York Maritime to improve to 21-2 on the year.

In the process, Schlingman became just the third wrestler in King's history to reach the 100-victory plateau. The former Meyers High School standout went 3-0 on the day and now stands at 102-21 over his four-year stay at King's. He earned his 100th win with an 11-3 major decision over NYU's Justin Stern in the opening match. He also recorded a first period pin and gained a forfeit on the day.

Dave Shafer went 3-0 to improve to 28-1, while Mitch Marcks won all three matches to improve to 29-2.
