WILLIAMSPORT --  The King's College wrestling team enjoyed one of its finest weekends ever as the Monarchs won the prestigious Bud Whitehill Division III National Duals at Lycoming College, Williamsport.

The Monarchs, who went 2-0 in day-one on Friday, won both matches Saturday to claim the dual meet team title.  In the semi-finals, King's, ranked 10th nationally in Division III, upset top-seeded and fourth-ranked College of New Jersey 23-13.  In the championship, King's defeated University of Chicago 25-7 to conclude its stellar weekend.  With the wins, King's improved to 13-0 on the year.

But King's won three of the last four matches to seal the win.  At 174, freshman Joe Arnone earned a 6-1 decision before Jason Schlingman posted a pin in 1:33 to up the King's lead to 20-10.  At 197, Monarch rookie Tegan McKee gained a 4-2 win to put the match away at 23-10.

In the finals, King's gained a 3-0 lead as Marcks improved to 19-0 with a 6-2 decision at 125.  Chicago would gain a decision and major decision in the next two bouts to go ahead 7-3, but the Monarchs swept the remaining seven matches to seal the victory.  Morgan gained a 3-2 win at 149, before Shafer posted a 4-2 win at 157 to improve to 18-1 and put King's ahead 9-7.

Jesse Martinez then followed with an 8-5 decision before Arnone gained a 3-0 triumph to up his individual mark to 19-2.  Schlingman then earned a 17-7 decision at 184 to improve to 23-1 and increase the King's advantage to 19-7.  McKee gained a 6-5 win at 197 while Jared Potsko registered a 6-5 victory at 285 to concluded the match.
