KING'S TENNIS BLANKS SCRANTON, 9-0 FOR EIGHTH
STRAIGHT VICTORY
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's tennis
team won its eighth straight match as the Monarchs posted a 9-0 victory
over the University of Scranton Tuesday at Kirby Park.
With the win, King's improved to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in the Freedom
Conference. Scranton, meanwhile, slipped to 4-5 and 1-3 in league play.
Mike Portonova, Nick Hojsack, Blake Bonser, Matt Dunne, David Boe, and
David Kaluzavich were all winners in both singles and doubles for the
Monarchs. Portonova, the two-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference
champion, improved to 12-1 in singles with a straight set victory. Only
one singles match went three sets, with Dunne winning a 6-0, 3-6, 10-8
marathon over Scranton's Matt Silva.
King's is slated to travel to Grantham on Thursday to face Messiah
College.
