KING'S TENNIS WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT WITH 8-1 VICTORY
OVER DESALES
CENTER VALLEY -- The King's College men's tennis
team extended its winning streak to six matches as the Monarchs posted
an 8-1 victory over host DeSales University Tuesday in Center Valley.
With the win, King's improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in Freedom
Conference play. DeSales, meanwhile, slipped to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in
league competition.
King's would take a 2-1 lead after doubles, then proceeded to sweep all
six singles matches to secure the victory.
Junior Mike Portonova improved to 10-1 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0
triumph over Jake Hoover while David Kaluzavich upped his mark to 7-3
with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Dan Bullen. Nick Hojsack, David Boe, and
Blake Bonser all improved to 7-4 with respective singles wins. Portonova
teamed with Hojsack to earn a win at number-one doubles while Adam
Pascoe and Joe Guza posted the Monarchs' other doubles victory.
King's is scheduled to next face Drew University Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
at Kirby Park in a matchup of the pre-season Freedom Conference
favorites.
