KING'S TENNIS DEFEATS FDU
5-4
MADISON, NJ -- The King's College men's tennis team won two of the three
doubles matches, then split the six singles bouts as the Monarchs edged
host FDU-Florham 5-4 in an important Freedom Conference matchup Saturday
in Madison, NJ.
With the win, KIng's improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom
Conference. FDU fell to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Mike Portonova improved his season mark to 8-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory
at number-one singles. He then teamed with Nick Hojsack to earn an 8-4
doubles victory. David Kaluzavich was the only other Monarch to earn
wins in both singles and doubles. David Boe posted a critical three-set
win, rallying to post a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at number-five singles to
secure the victory.
King's will host Moravian College Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Kirby Park.
