KING'S TENNIS DOWNS SUSQUEHANNA 7-0

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, then swept all six singles contests as the Monarchs posted a 7-0 victory over Susquehanna University Tuesday at Kirby Park.

With the win, King's improved to 9-8 overall while Susquehanna fell to 0-11.

King's took a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles, then won 12 straight sets in singles to secure the victory.

Mike Portonova, Nick Hojsack, Brett Shipe, and Matt Dunne were all winners in doubles and singles for the Monarchs.

Portonova, the defending Freedom Conference champion, improved to 16-1 on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at number-one singles, then teamed with Hojsack for an 8-2 triumph to up their doubles ledger to 11-5. Blake Bonser posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number-five singles, improving to 11-6 with his 11th straight victory. Dunne, Shipe, and Boe were all straight set singles winners for the Monarchs.

King's will return to action Thursday when the Monarchs host DeSales University at 3:30 p.m. at Kirby Park.
