KING'S MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO WILKES, 2-1
WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting King's College men's soccer team dropped
its first Freedom Conference match of the year as the Monarchs suffered
a 2-1 setback to cross town rival Wilkes Tuesday at Ralston Field.
With the loss, King's slipped to 6-7-2 overall and 2-1 in the
Freedom Conference while Wilkes improved to 8-6-1 and 3-1.
Wilkes opened the scoring just 1:02 into the game when Greg Miller
headed in a cross from Sean Vona.
The score would remain the same until 25:38 remained in the second half
when Kyle Dukmen headed in another cross off the foot of Andy Curry to
give the Colonels a 2-1 lead.
King's would get on the board with 18:22 left in the contest when
Cameron Audette scored on a rebounded shot by Mark Timko. But the
Monarchs would draw no closer as Wilkes held on for the victory.
Wilkes out shot King's 20-11 and held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
King's goalie John McNichol made five saves on the day.
