KING'S MEN'S SOCCER FALL TO RUTGERS-NEWARK, 2-1
WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting Rutgers-Newark broke open a scoreless game at
the half with two second-half goals as the Scarlett Raiders posted a 2-0
victory over host King's College Wednesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Rutgers-Camden improved to 7-4 while King's slipped to
3-6-2.
After scoreless opening stanza. Rutgers-Camden got on the scoreboard
when Jason Laing struck net off an assist by Joe Caamano with 22:17 left
in the contest.
The Scarlet Raiders would put the game away just 2:21 later when Caamano
scored on a pass from Christen Vlahinich following a King's turnover in
the box.
Rutgers-Newark outshot King's 12-11 while the Monarchs owned an 8-6
advantage in corner kicks.
Monarch goalie John McNichol made six saves in the game while Knight
keeper posted two stops.
King's returns to action Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. home contest against
Delaware Valley College at Betzler Fields.
