KING'S MEN'S SOCCER TEAM DOWNS BBC, 2-0
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team broke open a
scoreless game with two second half goal as the Monarchs posted a 2-0
victory over visiting Baptist Bible College Monday at Betzler Fields.
After the teams entered half-time deadlocked at 0-0, the Monarchs
finally pushed across the first goal of the contest when Dan Mortenson
scored on a header off a crossing pass by Grant Parsons just 3:01 into
the second half. King's would score the final goal of the game with 2:10
on the clock when Parsons delivered another perfect cross to Ryan Murphy
who also struck net on a head shot.
King's outshot Baptist Bible 17-11 while holding a 7-3 advantage in
corner kicks. Monarch goalie John McNichol picked up the shutout by
making six saves. Defender goalie Dan Durrwachter registered seven
stops for Baptist Bible.
King's will next travel to face Keystone College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
in LaPlume before returning home to host Albright College Saturday at
3:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
