KING'S SOCCER DOWNS NEUMANN, 3-0
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer
team broke open a scoreless game with three second-half goals as the
Monarchs posted a 3-0 victory over Neumann College Monday at Betzler
Fields.
With the win, the Monarchs improved to 2-5 on the
year while snapping a four-game losing streak.
After
a scoreless first half, King's would get on the board when Jordan
Miller (left) would convert a beautiful lead pass by Brian
McElroy at 56:52. The Monarchs would add to the lead when Brandon
Heller stole a pass, beat a pair of Neumann defenders, and drilled a
shot past Knight goalie Josh Williams to give King's a 2-0 lead with
5:40 left in the contest.
The Monarchs would add an insurance goal with 1:36 left when Grant
Parsons scored off an assist by Cameron Audette.
Neumann
outshot King's 15-11 and held a 8-7 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch
sophomore goalie Mike Conroy (left) was solid in his first
collegiate start, making six saves to post the first shutout of his
career.
King's will host local rival University of Scranton Wednesday at 4:00
p.m. at Betzler Fields.
