WILKES MEN'S SOCCER DOWNS KING'S 4-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Steve Uhas scored the first three
goals of the game as Wilkes University posted a 4-0 victory over host
King's College in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams Tuesday
at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Wilkes improved to 5-2 on the year while King's slipped to
1-5.
Uhas opened the scoring at 14:15 of the first half off an assist by Andy
Curry. The Colonels extended the lead to 2-0 at the half on an
unassisted goal by Uhas at 27:17.
In the second stanza, Uhas tallied his third goal of the game at 54:44
on a pass from Greg Miller to give the Colonels a 3-0 lead. Wilkes would
push across the final goal of the contest when Curry scored on an assist
by Matt Martin just 2:16 later.
King's best chance came early in the first half when Cameron Audette's
shot caromed off the post and a shot off the rebound by Nate Buckwalter
hit the side of the net.
Wilkes outshot King's 14-6 and held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.
King's goalies John McNichol and Mike Conroy combined for six saves
while Wilkes goalies Dominick Proctor and T.J. Baloga teamed for three
saves.
The Monarchs will be idle until Monday when King's hosts Neumann College
at 3:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
