MILLER NETS THREE GOALS AS KING'S DOWNS MISERICORDIA TO HAND BASSETT FIRST COACHING VICTORY

WILKES-BARRE -- Jordan Miller scored three goals and Grant Parsons distributed three assists to power the King's College men's soccer team to a 6-3 victory over College Misericordia Tuesday at Betzler Fields.  In the process, the Monarchs handed first-year coach Mark Bassett (pictured left) his first career coaching win.

Misericordia (0-2) took a 1-0 lead  at 11:21 of the first half when Tyler Mensch scored unassisted.  The Monarchs (1-1) would knot the score at 32:27 when Miller scored his first goal off a crossing pass from Cameron Audette.  The Monarch
s struck again at 37:07 when Miller (pictured right)again scored off the first of Parson's assists to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.  King's would extend the advantage to 3-1 just 1:53 later when Paul Racz successfully converted a pass from Parsons.

In the second half, Misericordia fought back when Jordan Aungst scored an unassisted goal just 4:08 into the final stanza. The Cougars would knot the score at 3-3 just 0:50 later on a goal by Max Campbell.

The Monarchs, however, would quickly counter when Brandon Heller fed Miller for his third goal and a 4-3 King's lead just 0:16 later.  The lead swelled to 5-3 at 55:06 when Brandon Stanchock scored on a corner kick by Parsons.  King's pushed across the final goal with 3:28 left in the contest on an unassisted goal by Audette.

Misericordia outshot King's 16-10 while the Monarchs held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Monarch goalie John McNichol made eight saves on the day while Cougar keeper posted five stops.

King's will next travel to Annville to face Lebanon Valley College Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
