KING'S MEN'S SOCCER TEAM FALLS TO SCRANTON, 2-0

SCRANTON, Pa.—Junior forward Michel DeAscentiis and sophomore forward Tim Logan scored a goal apiece to lead The University of Scranton to a 2-0 victory over King’s College in Freedom Conference action Wednesday evening at Fitzpatrick Field.

Junior goalie David Keib made nine saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season as the Royals improved to 5-6-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the Freedom Conference.  The loss dropped the Monarchs to 4-9-1 overall and 1-3-1 in league play.

DeAscentiis took a cross from freshman defender Gary Racich and headed in a ball from 10 yards out for his second goal of the season at the 6:05 mark of the first half.  Midway through the first half, Scranton freshman forward Gus Esgro blasted a shot from 18 yards out that hit the crossbar and rolled towards Logan, who drilled a shot from 20 yards out for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.  The Royals out-shot the Monarchs, 21-16.

Senior Dan Upton and sophomore Danny Roth split time in goal for King’s and combined to make seven saves. Upton made five first-half saves while Roth stopped two shots in the second half.

King's will next host Baptist Bible College Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
