LYCOMING MEN'S SOCCER DOWNS KING'S IN 2 OT'S
WILKES-BARRE -- Jeff Kocher scored the game-winning goal just 1:11 into
the second overtime period as visiting Lycoming College posted a 1-0
victory over King's College in the Freedom Conference opener for both
teams Thursday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Lycoming improved to 6-1 overall while King's slipped to
2-6.
Lycoming pushed across the winning goal when Zach Tanner lofted a long
sideline throw into the box where Kocher would score on a head shot to
put a sudden end to the contest.
The game was a defensive struggle as both teams managed just eight shots
each while King's posted six corner kicks compared to five for the
Warriors.
Monarch goalie Danny Roth made five saves while Lycoming keeper
registered eight stops.
King's will next host Lebanon Valley College Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at
Betzler Fields.
