KING'S MEN'S SOCCER WINS HOME DEBUT WITH 7-1 TRIUMPH OVER KEYSTONE

WILKES-BARRE -- After playing its first five games of the year on the road, the King's College men's soccer team made its home debut a successful one with a 7-1 victory over visiting Keystone College Wednesday at Betzler Fields.

With the win, King's improved to 2-4 while Keystone slipped to 1-5.

King's opened the scoring at 23:15 of the first half when Jordan Miller scored off an assist from Kyle Custer. The Monarchs upped the lead to 2-0 when Miller scored again when he struck net on a breakaway after a long punt from King's keeper Danny Roth. Ricky Branco gave King's a 3-0 lead when he scored off an assist from Miller with 11:20 remaining in the opening half.

Keystone would get on the board early in the second half when Mamoudou Camara scored unassisted just 3:15 into the final stanza. The Monarchs responded when Brett Shipe scored back-to-back goals off assists from Jim McMichael and Mark Wallis to extend the lead to 5-1 with 17:38 left in the game. King's freshman Cameron Audette would score unassisted with 16:57 remaining before Miller scored his third goal off Wallis's second assist of the day with 12:37 left.

King's held a 16-3 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. Roth made one save in goal for King's while Keystone keeper Michael Bator had nine stops.

King's will next travel to Widener University Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
