KING'S MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO MONTCLAIR IN OT

WILKES-BARRE -- Bill Anthes scored both goals, including the game winner with 0:44 remaining in the second overtime period, as visiting Montclair State University posted a 2-1 victory over host King's College Monday at Betzler Fields.

After a scoreless first half, Montclair took a 1-0 lead with 35:02 remaining in the second stanza when Anthes scored of an assist from Matt Behen.

King's knotted the score just 0:56 later when Mark Ferentz scored off a crossing pass from Mike McGarry.

The teams played through the remainder of regulation and nearly two overtime periods without a goal and a tie score looming ahead.  Wells, however, directed a crossing pass to the far post where Anthes redirected the ball into the net after the entire Monarch defense stopped play in anticipation of an offsides call which never came.

The sudden ending enabled the red Hawks to improve to 13-3-2 while King's fell to 8-8-1.

King's will next host cross-town rival Wilkes University Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
