DEPLETED KING'S BOOTERS IMPRESSIVE IN 1-0 LOSS TO
SIXTH-RANKED MONTCLAIR STATE
UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ -- An injury-depleted King's
College men's soccer team put together one of its gustiest efforts ever
as the Monarchs lost to powerful Montclair State University 1-0 Monday
in Upper Montclair, NJ.
King's, playing without seven injured starters
against the sixth-ranked team nationally in Division III, allowed the
lone goal of the game at 25:07 of the first half when Steve Leonard
struck net off an assist from Sean Horan. The teams would then play on
even terms for the final 64:53 of the contest.
Montclair (5-1) outshot King's 21-10 and held a
10-2 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch goalie Dan Upton was solid in
making eight saves on the day. Red Hawk keeper Edgard Dinten stopped two
shots.
King's returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
when the Monarchs travel to Madison, NJ to face FDU-Florham.
