KING’S SOCCER DOWNS CABRINI, 5-1.

WILKES-BARRE – Brandon Heller’s two goals helped the King’s College men’s soccer team to a 5-1 victory Wednesday afternoon over Cabrini College.  Mike McGarry had a goal and two assists, while Matt McGarry added a goal and an assist.  The win improves the Monarchs to 5-7 on the season.

Cabrini struck first at 22:09 in the first period when Anthony Pepe assisted Jeff Carman.  That would be all for the Cavaliers on the day though, as the Monarchs reeled off five unanswered goals to propel them to victory.

With 12:12 left in the first period, Mark Ferentz got the Monarchs on the board with a goal assisted by Mike McGarry.  Only six minutes later Heller went 65 yards with the ball before netting his first goal of the game.  With only 2:50 left in the period, Matt McGarry added the third goal of the period for the Monarchs.  Mike McGarry picked up his second assist on the goal.

Heller got the Monarchs going again in the second period when he scored his second goal on a 20-yard shot at 35:20.  Mike McGarry finished out the scoring on the day at 16:16 when Matt McGarry assisted him.

In goal for the Monarchs, Dan Upton made two saves.  Cabrini held an advantage in shots, 7-6, and in corner kicks, 3-1.

King’s will be in action again Saturday at 2:00 when they travel to Baptist Bible College.
