KING'S MEN'S SOCCER TEAM ENDS YEAR WITH 3-1 WIN OVER DEL-VALLEY

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team concluded the 2002 campaign on a winning note as the Monarchs posted a 3-1 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College Sunday at Betzler Fields.

With the win, King's ended its season with a 7-12 record while improving to 2-5 in MAC freedom Conference action.  Delaware Valley fell to 3-15 and 1-6.

The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead at 21:53 of the first half when Brandon Heller scored off an assist from Joe Saukulyak.  King's would extend its lead to 2-0 with 20:48 left in the contest when Eric Hall scored an unassisted goal.  The Aggies would cut the lead to 2-1 with 6:07 left when Mike Mayne scored off a crossing pass from Michael Taylor.

King's however, would ice the game when Brian Noler drilled in a low, line-drive shot from 40 yards out as Aggie goalie Pat Fackler was screened on the play and failed to see the attempt.

Each team took 11 shots while the Aggies had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.  King's goalie Trevor Riccobon made two saves in playing the first half while Dan Upton posted four stops in playing the second stanza.  Fackler had three saves for the Aggies.
