SCRANTON SOCCER DEFEATS KING'S, 2-0
WILKES-BARRE -- The University of Scranton pushed across one goal
in each half as the Royals posted a 2-0 victory over host King's College
in an MAC Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Scranton improved to 6-9 overall and 4-1 in MAC Freedom
action. King's fell to 6-10 and 1-5 in league play.
Nate Lowry gave the Royals a 1-0 lead with 18:44 left in the first half
off an assist from Chris Poli. Scranton would then seal the
victory when Sean Costello scored on an assist from Jeremy Basedow with
19:46 left in the contest.
Scranton held a 10-7 advantage on shots while King's owned a 5-2 lead in
corner kicks. Monarch goalie Dan Upton made seven saves in net
while Royal keeper Chris Vanaskie had one stop.
King's returned to action Thursday when the Monarchs travel to Radnor to
face Cabrini College.
