KING'S MEN'S SOCCER TEAM ROUTES CENTENARY, 8-2
WILKES-BARRE -- Greg Castellani scored three goals with one assist in
one half of action and Brian Noler added two goals and two assists to
lead the King's College men's soccer squad to a 8-2 victory over
Centenary College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
The Monarchs (6-8) took a 1-0 lead at 41:55 of the first half when Noler
scored off an assist from Matt McGarry. Castellani increased the King's
lead at 3:49 off another assist from McGarry. The Monarch lead
grew to 3-0 when Eric Hall struck net off an assist from Brandon Heller
with 29:08 left in the half. Just 1:46 later, Noler would
score on a crossing pass from Castellani.
King's would add two more Castellani goals in the first half off assists
from Noler and Joe Saukulyak as the Monarch lead grew to 6-0 with 7:19
left in the opening stanza. Centenary would finally get on the
scoreboard when Eric Brooks found the net off a pass from Takashi Sato
with 0:38 left.
In the second half, Brett Shipe would score off Noler's second assist at
38:58 t increase the Monarch lead to 7-1. Brandon Heller would add
King's final goal with 27:56 remaining. Eric Nelson score a second
half goal for Centenary with 18:15 left in the contest.
King's held a 23-11 advantage in shots as well as a 7-1 lead in corner
kicks.
King's starting goalie Trevor Riccobon made one save in the first half
before Eric Munley played the second half and made six stops.
The Monarchs will travel to center Valley Saturday for a crucial MAC
Freedom Conference contest against DeSales University at 11:00 a.m.
