CASTELLANI NETS FOUR GOALS TO LEAD KING'S TO 4-3 OVERTIME WIN OVER BAPTIST BIBLE

WILKES-BARRE -- Former Wyoming Valley West standout Greg Castellani scored all four goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the King's College men's soccer team won a 4-3  thriller over Baptist Bible College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.

King's took a 1-0 lead at 28:38 of the first half when Castellani scored of an assist from Dan Gibbons.  The Monarchs extended their lead to 2-0 at 16:54 when Castellani hauled in a long pass from Lake Lehman product Brian Noler and battled through a pair of defenders to tally his second goal of the match.

Baptist Bible would counter when Andy Schmitt scored off an assist from Robbie Atkins at 4:58.  The Defenders would knot the score at 2-2 just 0:26 later off a pass from Derek Jacobs.

In the second half, Baptist Bible took a 4-3 lead when Jacobs scored off an assist from Calvin Cutting at 34:13.   Castellani would then tie the game with an unassisted  goal with 27:21 remaining in regulation.

The Monarch standout would then push across the game winner when Noler delivered a short cross pass in front of the net which Castellani drilled home for the King's victory with just 2:06 left in the first overtime frame.

The game proved to be a thrilling contest as each teams missed out on two scoring chances apiece when shots caromed off the cross bar and post.  Baptist Bible held a 24-22 advantage in shots while the teams were even with six corner kicks each.  King's goalie Mark Ferentz of Berwick made 10 saves while Baptist Bible keeper Josh Howard posted eight stops.

The Monarchs improved to 5-8 while Baptist Bible slipped to 6-5.
