KING'S SOCCER FALLS TO WILKES, 2-1

WILKES-BARRE -- Ty Bowman scored the game-wining goal with 1:18 remaining and the King's College men's soccer team failed to make a 1-0 half-time lead standout as the Monarchs dropped a 2-1 decision to cross-town rival Wilkes Wednesday at Ralston Field.

With the loss, King's fell to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in MAC Freedom Conference action.

King's took a 1-0 lead just 9:45 into the contest when Brandon Heller scored off an assist from Brian Noler.  Wilkes knotted the score at 24:26 of the second half when Will Roy took advantage of  King's turnover and scored on a break-away.  The Colonels pushed across the game winner when the Monarchs were unable to clear the ball from in front of their own net and Bowman knocked in the loose ball unassisted for the final tally.

King's goalie Dan Upton made eight saves while Wilkes keeper Justin Bagely posted three stops. Wilkes held a 16-12 advantage in shots and a 6-3 lead  n corner kicks.
