KING'S SOCCER FALLS TO WILKES, 2-1
WILKES-BARRE -- Ty Bowman scored the game-wining goal with 1:18
remaining and the King's College men's soccer team failed to make a 1-0
half-time lead standout as the Monarchs dropped a 2-1 decision to
cross-town rival Wilkes Wednesday at Ralston Field.
With the loss, King's fell to 4-5 overall
and 1-1 in MAC Freedom Conference action.
King's took a 1-0 lead just 9:45 into the
contest when Brandon Heller scored off an assist from Brian Noler.
Wilkes knotted the score at 24:26 of the second half when Will Roy took
advantage of King's turnover and scored on a break-away. The
Colonels pushed across the game winner when the Monarchs were unable to
clear the ball from in front of their own net and Bowman knocked in the
loose ball unassisted for the final tally.
King's goalie Dan Upton made eight saves while Wilkes keeper Justin
Bagely posted three stops. Wilkes held a 16-12 advantage in shots and a
6-3 lead n corner kicks.
