SHIPE GOAL LEADS MONARCH TO 2-1 WIN OVER LYCOMING

WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman Brett Shipe scored the game winning goal with just 4:35 remaining as the King's men's soccer squad posted a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Lycoming in the Monarchs' MAC Freedom Conference opener.

After a scoreless first half, Lycoming took a 1-0 lead when Jeff Kocher scored off an assist from Brad Martin with 27:16 on the clock. King's tied the score when Brian Noler scored off an assist from Joe Saukulyak with 14:33 remaining.

King's pushed across the game winner when Saukulyak delivered his second assist of the day, enabling Shipe to drill home the deciding score with just 4:35 on the clock.

Monarch freshman goalie Dan Upton had five saves in net. King's held a 18-16 advantage in shots while Lycoming led 5-3 in corner kicks.

The Monarchs, who stand at 4-4 overall and 1-0 in league play, will travel to Wilkes Wednesday for a 4:00 p.. conference matchup.
