KING'S COLLEGE SOCCER WINS 8th STRAIGHT
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team blanked host
Alfred University tonight for their 8th straight win of the season. The
score, 3-0, gives King's their 6th shut out of the year. King's improves
to 8-0 while Alfred falls to 0-8.
King's first goal was scored just 14
minutes into the game. Kevin Moulton took a throw in, tossing it towards
the Alfred goal. In the scrum that ensued, a Saxon player kicked the
ball into the goal, resulting in an own goal.
Freshman Billy Elliott tallied another
goal at 60:03, his third this season. Coming off the game winner against
SUNY New-Paltz, Elliott gave the Monarchs a little bit of breathing room
late in the second half. Moulton recorded the assist on the goal. The
final goal of the evening came at 66:36 on a shot taken by Dan Horn. The
goal was assisted by Joe Bender
The Monarchs defense was able to hold Alfred University to just nine
shots the entire game. Net minder Richard Melber completed the shut out,
recording just one save on the night.
King's next game will be this Wednesday
at Moravian College. Game time is set for 4:00pm. The next Monarch home
game will be September 30th against PSU Harrisburg, at 7:00pm.
