KING'S LACROSSE DROPS 14-7 DECISION TO SCRANTON
SCRANTON -- Host University
of Scranton overcame a 4-1 second period deficit and held King's College
to two goals in the second-half en route to a 14-7 victory in a men's
lacrosse contest Tuesday evening at Fitzpatrick Field..
With the win Scranton, posted its fourth straight
victory to improve to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC. King's,
meanwhile, fell to 2-10 and 2-6 in league play.
After Scranton took an early 1-0 lead, Monarchs
scored four straight goals, one each by Gary Morgan, John Booth, Ryan
Lachner and T.J. Lyon to take a 4-1 lead with 9:25 left in second
period. Scranton, behind two goals by Brendan Clifford, outscored
the Monarchs 4-1 the rest of the period to take 6-5 lead at the half.
After Scranton built an 8-5 lead, the Monarchs
used a goal by Chris Landry with 0:06 remaining in third period to cut
the lead to 8-6 heading into the final stanza. Scranton, however, would
counter when Sean O'Connor scored two goals during a 4-0 run early in
the fourth period to stretch lead the Royals' lead to 12-6.
Booth led King's with two goals while
Lachner added one goal and one assist. Monarch goalie Andrew Bartle
finished with game-high 14 saves, including seven in the first period.
Tom Kornobis and Dan Stallone led Scranton with three goals each.
Scranton outshot King's 30-22 and held a 29-25 advantage in ground balls
The Monarchs return to action Saturday when King's hosts defending MAC
champion Widener University at 1:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
