KING'S LACROSSE FALLS 7-6 ON MORAVIAN COMEBACK
BETHLEHEM -- The King's College men's lacrosse team was unable
to make a 6-4 fourth-quarter lead stands up as host Moravian College
scored the final three goals of the game, including the game-winner with
1:10 left, to post a 7-6 victory over the Monarchs Saturday in
Bethlehem.
With the win, Moravian improved to 2-10 overall and 2-5 in the Middle
Atlantic Conference. King's, meanwhile, fell to 2-9 and 2-5
Kings' would build a 4-2
lead with 12:11 left in the third quarter on the strength of two goals
by Ryan Lachner, and one goal each from John Booth and John Doran.
Moravian battled back to tie the game on a goal from Daniel Larson with
0:15 remaining in the third period. King's took a 6-4 lead with
12:20 left in the contest when Booth and T.J. Lyon scored consecutive goals for the
Monarchs.
But the Greyhounds would battle back to tie the score at 6-6 when Kevin
Smart scored with 6:53 on the clock, then won the game when Jason
Tosches struck net with just 1:10 remaining.
Moravian outshot King's 29-26 while also holding a 49-43 advantage in
ground balls.
Lachner led King's with two goals and one assist while Booth also
tallied two goals. Monarch goalie Tim Cassi made 11 saves on the day.
Larson was the lone two-goal scorer for Moravian while Ben Larson made
13 saves.
King's returns to action Tuesday when the Monarchs travel to face
Scranton at 7:00 p.m.
