KING'S MEN'S LAXERS POST FIRS-EVER VICTORY OVER
LYCOMING, 9-5
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's lacrosse
team built a 5-1 half-time lead and added four second half goals to post
a 9-5 victory over host Lycoming College Wednesday in Williamsport. The
win marked King's first-ever win over the Warriors since King's began
varsity lacrosse in 1999.
With the win, King's improved to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the MAC while
Lycoming slipped to 2-6 and 2-2. King's had lost nine straight games to
the Warriors entering the matchup.
King's took a 5-1 half-time lead on the strength of two goals from T.J.
Lyon. But the Monarchs extended the lead to 6-1 on a goal by Ryan
Lachner just 1:50 into the third quarter . King's would take a 7-3 lead
into the final period where goals by Lyon and Chris Landry would seal
the victory.
Lyon finished the game with four goals while Lachner tallied two goals
and two assists. Curtis Reinard scored one goal with one assist while
Doran also added goals for King's. Landry also finished the game with
one goal and one assist.
Lycoming held a 38-36 advantage in shots, while King's won the ground
ball battle 39-36.
King's goalie Andrew Bartle made 10 saves to pick up the win.
King's returns to action on Wednesday when the Monarchs travel to face
Messiah College in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
