MEN'S LACROSSE TEAM FALLS TO DESALES 15-11
WILKES-BARRE -- Dan Thomer scored four goals to
lead nine different scorers as DeSales University posted a 15-11 victory
over host King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse
matchup Saturday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, DeSales improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the MAC while
King's slipped to 1-7 and 1-3 in league play.
King's trailed 7-2 at halftime but battled back to close to within 7-6
midway with 5:05 left in the third period thanks to a pair of goals by
T.J. Lyon and scores by Ryan Lachner and Curtis Reinard. DeSales,
however, would erupt for four goals in a 2:14 span to build a 11-6 lead
entering the final period.
The Bulldogs would score again 1:51 into the fourth quarter to stretch
the lead to 12-6, but King's attempted to rally when Lachner scored with
10:52 on the clock. The Bulldogs would then put the game away with three
unanswered goals to forge ahead 15-7 with 3:37 left.
The Monarchs would not quit and used a pair of goals by Lachner to cut
the gap to 15-9 with 3:00 remaining. Reinard and John Booth added late
goals to bring the game to its final margin.
Lyon and Lachner scored four goals each for King's while Reinard added
two scores and a pair of assists. Chris Landry distributed three assists
to aid the Monarch attack.
Tim Cassi made six saves in goal while Andrew Bartle stopped eight
shots.
