KING'S LAXERS RALLY TO DEFEAT FDU 10-9 FOR FIRST VICTORY OF SEASON

Morgan (left) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 3:16
remaining as the King's College men's lacrosse team rallied from a 9-7
fourth-quarter deficit to pick up its first win of the season with a
10-9 victory over FDU-Florham Saturday evening at the University of
Scranton's Fitzpatrick Field.
With the win, King's improved to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the MAC.
FDU, meanwhile, slipped to 1-3 and 0-1 in the MAC.
Morgan, T.J. Lyon, and Chris Landry each scored goals for the Monarchs
as KIng's and FDU forged a 3-3 tie after the first quarter.
FDU would build a 5-3 lead with 6:25 left in the first half on
back-to-back goals by Wayne Sartorio and Peter Fleming. King's
would use a goal with 2:21 left by Lyon to close to within 5-4 at the
break.
In the third period, King's came out of fire with three goals in the
first 1:57 of the quarter. Landry scored after just 0:36 had
expired to tie the score at 5-5. John Booth would then score with
13:16 remaining in the third quarter, then set up Landry on KIng's next
goal just 0:13 later as the Monarchs took a 7-5 lead.
But FDU would counter when James Baker and Taylor Horgath scored at 1:28
and 0:27 of the third period, sending the game into the final quarter
deadlocked at 7-7.
FDU would attempt to put the game away when Sartorio and Spencer Driggs
scored to give the Devils a 9-7 lead with 9:52 remaining in the contest.
But he Monarchs would not fold and cut into the lead when Landry scored
off another Booth assist to cut the gap to 9-8 just 0:49 later.
King's would continue to battle back and tied the score at 9-9 when
Brendan Novotny struck net on an assist by Landry with 5:46 on the
clock. Morgan would then give King's the lead for good with an
unassisted goal with 3:16 remaining.
The Monarchs would assume possession and attempted to run out the clock,
but the Devils regained possession with just 0:16 to attempt a final
rush. An errant devil shot resulted in KIng's possession with 0:02 left
as the Monarchs ran out the clock to walk away with the victory.
Landry led King's with three goals and one assist while Lyon also added
three goals. Booth finished with one goal and two assists. Curtis
Reinard chipped in with an assist for the Monarchs. Tim Cassi was
solid in goal with 10 saves.
Horgath had three goals for FDU while Sartorio added a pair of scores.
Ryan McAllister posted five saves in goal for the Devils.
