KING'S LACROSSE FALLS TO DREW, 9-5
MADISON, NJ -- Host Drew University used four unanswered goals over
the final 17:33 of the game to outlast King's College 9-5 in a Middle
Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse matchup Thursday night in Madison,
NJ.
With the win, Drew improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the MAC while
King's slipped to 0-5 and 0-1.
King's took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Ryan Lachner just 1:54
into the game but Drew responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1
lead. Lachner would again score for the Monarchs to tie the game at 2-2
with 12:06 left in the first half. After two more Drew goals
gave the Rangers a 5-3 lead early in the third quarter, King's knotted
the score at 5-5 when Chris Landry struck net off an assist from Curtis
Reinard and Brendan Novotny scored off a pass by John Booth with 9:32
remaining in the third quarter.
But Sean McNulty's goal for Drew with 2:33 left in third stanza gave the
Rangers the lead for good as Drew added three more goals in the fourth
quarter to put the game away as the Monarchs were unable to find the
back of the net.
Lachner led King's with two goals while Reinard added a pair of assists.
Cory Helly and Gil Arbitsman led Drew with two goals each while Jon
Buckman handed out three assists.
King's returns to action Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. against
FDU-Florham. The game was originally set for 1:00 p.m. at King's
Betzler Fields but was moved to Scranton due to wet field conditions
following recent snow.
