ELIZABETHTOWN EDGES KING'S LAXERS 10-9
WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team
outscored King's College 3-1 in the decisive fourth quarter as the Blue
Jays posted a 10-9 victory in a Middle Atlantic Conference match
Wednesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Elizabethtown improved to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in MAC play
while King's fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in conference games.
King's would hold an 8-7 lead heading into the final period of play.
Chris Harrison would score back-to-back goals to give the Blue Jays a
9-8 lead before Jeff Cowan struck net with 10:42 remaining to give
Elizabethtown a two-goal cushion. King's would cut the gap to 10-9 when
Chris Landry scored with 2:45 left.
Elizabethtown would gain control of the face-off and proceeded to run
out the clock as the Monarchs tried valiantly to force a Blue Jay
turnover.
T.J. Lyon led King's with five goals while Chris Landry scored one goal
with three assists. Gary Morgan added a goal and an assist for the
Monarchs while Andrew D'agostino and Chad Flexon also netted goals for
King's. Kris Hovis chipped in with an assist. Monarch goalie Andrew
Bartle made 15 stops.
Elizabethtown owned a 35-20 advantage in shots while King's led in
ground balls 35-20.
