KING'S LACROSSE DOWNS MISERICORDIA 8-7
DALLAS -- Chris Hovis scored two goals and distributed two assists
while freshman goalie Tim Cassi made a pair of huge late game stops as
the King's College men's lacrosse team posted an 8-7 victory over host
College Misericordia Tuesday in Dallas.
With the win, King's improved to 1-1 on the year while Misericordia fell
to 0-3.
King's built a 4-1 lead but the Cougars battled back to trail 5-4 in the
h third period.
The Monarchs would eventually hold a 7-6 lead when Hovis scored a
critical goal with 3:21 left to give King's an 8-6 lead. Misericordia
would score with 2:47 left to cut the lead to one goal. In the final
minute of play, The Cougars would create two scoring chances but Cassy
made a pair of clutch saves, the last coming with 0:28 remaining as
King's held on for the victory.
King's was aided offensively by T.J. Lyons with two goals while Paul
Moran contributed one goal and one assist. Brendan Ireton, Gary Morgan,
and Ed Skawinski also chipped in with goals for King's. Cassi made 11
total saves in goal.
The Cougar’s attack was led by Chris
Kurinec’s three goals. Matt Carey had two goals and an assist while
Sean Collins and Mike Chisholm each added a goal. Dave Berger and Ryan
Dwyer combined for seven saves in goal for CM.
Misericordia held a slim 36-31 advantage in shots while the Monarchs led
in ground balls 35-19.
