KING'S LACROSSE DOWNS CAZENOVIA 18-10, FINISHES YEAR WITH BEST MARK
SINCE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's lacrosse team put the wraps
on its most successful season to date as the Monarchs posted an 18-10
decision over visiting Cazenovia College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
With victory, King's ended the year with a 6-10 record, its winningest
season since the program's inception in 1999. Cazenovia concluded its
campaign with a 3-10 mark.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and never
trailed as Chris Landry and Ryan Thomas were both outstanding.
Landry tied a school-record six goals while adding one assist, while
Thomas netted one goal but distributed a equaled a King's record with
six assists.
Chris Ives tallied three goals with one assist while John Matuziewicz
also scored three goals. Gary Morgan, Joe Baldasare, Gene Giallombardo,
Chad Flexon, and Frank Sanchelli netted one goal each. Justin Kumor
chipped in with one assist.
Senior goalie Steve Matusiewicz made nine saves in net for the Monarchs
to wrap up his outstanding career with a school-record 1,160 saves.
Alex Cost led Cazenovia with four goals and two assists while Mike
Malfilam added three goals and one assist.
