MISERICORDIA DEFEATS KING'S IN MEN'S LACROSSE, 11-4
WILKES-BARRE -- Sean Collins and Kevin Malkin scored
three goals apiece to lead the College Misericordia men's lacrosse team to
an 11-4 victory over host King's College Thursday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Misericordia improved to 3-7 while the Monarchs slipped to
4-7.
With the teams tied 3-3 after the first period, Malkin scored three
straight goals to give Misericordia a 6-3 halftime lead.
In the third period, the Cougars extended the advantage to 8-3 on
consecutive goals by Collins and Matt Davis with 8:06 on the clock. John
Matusiewicz would score for King's at the 6:23 mark but Misericordia would
outscore King's 3-0 over the final 21:00 of play to seal the victory.
Collins had two goals and three assists while Fields added two goals and
two assists to aid the Cougar cause. Jared Kohler also scored for
Misericordia. Dave Berger made 19 saves in goal for the Cougars.
Matusiewicz led King's with two goals while Ryan Thomas contributed three
assists. Joe Baldasare and Ed Skawinski added one goal each for the
Monarchs. Steve Matusiewicz posted 16 saves for King's.
King's will be idle until Wednesday when the Monarchs travel to face
FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
