KING'S LACROSSE FALLS TO KEUKA, 9-8
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's lacrosse team w
dropped its first game of the
season as the Monarchs suffered a hard-fought 9-8 defeat to visiting Keuka
College Friday at Betzler Fields.
With the loss, King's slipped to 2-1 while Keuka won its season-opener.
The Monarchs trailed 9-6 in the final minutes of play and scored a pair of
goals with 1:58 and 1:16 left to cut the gap to 9-8. Keuka, however, would
withstand King's attempts to tie the score and held on for the victory.
Chris Landy paced King's with four goals, while John McGuire, Ryan Thomas,
Chris Ives, and John Matusiewicz all netted one goal each. Monarch
goalie Steve Matusiewicz made 12 saves on the day.
Keuka outshot King's 22-18 while the Monarchs owned a 29-26 advantage in
ground balls.
King's returns to action Monday when the Monarchs travel to Aston to face
Neumann College in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
