KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE WINS FIRST GAME OVER MORAVIAN
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's lacrosse
team posted its first victory of the year as the Monarchs earned s 16-7
victory over visiting Moravian College Saturday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, King's improved to 1-11 overall and
1-7 in the Middle Atlantic Conference while Moravian slipped to 3-11 and
1-7.
Moravian took a quick 2-0 lead after just 1:38 had
expired in the game when Jay Dantinne scored twice off assists from Clint
Quedenfeld.
The Monarchs answered with six unanswered goals, two
each from Ryan Thomas and John McGuire to take a 6-2 lead with 2:21 left
in the opening quarter. In the second period, King's added four more goal,
including a pair from John Matusiewicz, to take a 10-3 half-time lead.
Thomas, Matusewicz, and McGuire would each add two more second half goals
to power King's to the win.
Thomas finished with five goals and two assists
while McGuire netted four goals with an assist. Matusewicz also added four
goals while Chris Reilly chipped in with two scores and two assists. Steve
Matusewicz made seven stops for the Monarchs who will host Scranton
Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
