LYCOMING MEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS KING'S, 13-6
WILKES-BARRE -- Sang Duong scored four goals to
power the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team to a 13-6 victory over host
King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup Wednesday at
Betzler Field.
With the win, Lycoming improved to 3-2 overall and
2-0 in the MAC. The Monarchs fell to 0-6 and o-2 in conference play.
Lycoming would take a 4-0 lead in the first period
but the Monarchs battled back on a goal by John Matusiewicz with 3:44
remaining in the period. King's senior Chris Reilly then struck net off an
assist from Ryan Thomas at 1:39 to bring the Monarchs to within 4-2
heading into the second quarter.
The Warriors increased the lead to 5-2 on a goal by
Duong, but Chris Landry would score for the Monarchs at the 5:17 mark to
bring King's within 5-3 at the halftime break.
Duong would score with 9:11 remaining in the third,
but the Monarchs closed to within 6-5 on a pair of unassisted goals from
Reilly and Matusiewicz with 4:38 left in the period. Duong would score
again for Lycoming with just 1:00 remaining in the period to give the
Warriors a 7-5 advantage heading into the final period.
From there it was all Lycoming as the Warriors
scored five unanswered goals to build a 12-5 lead with 4:30 remaining in
the contest. King's tallied its final goal when Thomas scored with 2:07
left to bring the Monarchs to within 12-6. The Warriors would add one
final goal with 0:38 left in the contest.
King's goalie Steve Matusiewicz made 17 saves in net
for the Monarchs.
King's will return to action Saturday when the
Monarchs host Elizabethtown College at 1:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
